The Authority of Being Clean
Each week, we highlight a Kingdom Dynamic, a key insight into how God’s Kingdom works in real life …
Spiritual attacks and temptation are inevitable, but their domination isn’t. Walking in the light can leave the devil with nothing to grab onto.
Jesus knew the enemy would come. On the night before His crucifixion, He said, “The ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me” (John 14.30).
There it is — “He has nothing in Me.” That’s a Jesus (Kingdom) Tactic for us … live so the enemy has no landing spots, no ground, no foothold. No standing.
We still face temptation. Spiritual warfare surfaces — “Something wicked this way comes.” Triggers. Attacks. Resistance. They’re all part of being “in this world, but not of it.”
Here’s the understanding though — the less ground we give him, the less ability he has to influence or derail us. The devil can knock, but he can’t access and stay when the door is locked.
1 John 1.5–9 gives us insight. Take a look at this passage⤵(1).
God is light. Walking in the light means bringing hidden attitudes, compromises, and sins into the open. We confess them and let God’s light reset our inner person.
It’s not about perfection — we’re aiming for progressive alignment with Christ, moment by moment.
⚔ Real spiritual warfare starts inside, with our thoughts, emotions, and choices. Anger, bitterness, lust, unforgiveness? They give Dark Minions territory in our heart. And our heart shapes our personal world of course.
Being clean has lasting power. Like now and forever! “The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever” (Psalm 19.9).
Moving in authority is on the line. There is authority in being clean before the Lord. From time to time you will need to operate in his authority. So stay clean.
Our opportunity? Live so the enemy finds nothing in you that he can grip. Our lives becomes a space where light triumphs. And darkness has no traction.
“Victory begins with the name of Jesus on our lips; but it will not be consummated until the nature of Jesus is in our hearts” (Francis Frangipane, The Three Battlegrounds).
Prayer
Jesus, I progressively align myself with you. May I be conformed to your nature. I yield no standing to the Darkness in my life. Amen.

Thinking Above & Beyond
“My thoughts are higher than your thoughts.” —Isaiah 55.9
Dusted. In street language, to be “dusted” means defeated, wiped out. In Genesis 3, the serpent was sentenced to the dust — a prophetic humiliation. “On your belly you will go, and dust you will eat all the days of your life.” Jesus later said we would trample on all the power of the enemy ⤵(4). The enemy’s realm is dust-level. Our authority in Christ is above. We can stay seated with Christ (Ephesians 2.6) and enforce the verdict that’s been issued.
“Be killing sin or it will be killing you.” John Owen (1616–1683) was a prominent English Puritan theologian, pastor, and academic. Quote from Owen’s classic work, The Mortification of Sin (first published in 1656).
The enemy’s domination ends where your obedience to Christ as Lord begins.
Fire Cider: A Fiery Ally for the Months Ahead
It’s a spicy, invigorating tonic made with apple cider vinegar, honey, and immune-boosting herbs and spices like ginger, garlic, and cayenne pepper.
Are you game? This centuries-old remedy was revived in the 1970s by herbalist Rosemary Gladstar (website).
It warms the body, supports circulation, and helps fend off seasonal bugs.
We can start with what’s on hand: onion, garlic, ginger, vinegar, and honey. Then maybe add horseradish, turmeric, or citrus peel for extra zip.
There’s no wrong blend. Let’s see if we can spark wellness and vitality through the winter.
Here’s a Kingdom Dynamic: Just as fire cider stirs warmth and strength in the body, the fire of the Spirit quickens the inner life — vitality, clarity, and spiritual energy for what’s in front of us.

Notes and Sources
“This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1.5-9 NIV)
“Barna’s data shows that the Spiritually Curious aren’t necessarily rejecting Christianity; they’re supplementing it. Many are “collectors of meaning,” weaving together diverse practices that promise transcendence. Some experiment with meditation or energy work. Others see yoga, journaling, or time in nature as spiritual experiences.”
“Science is being used not merely to address infertility due to medical reasons but to circumvent the natural order God designed for family, marriage and reproduction.”
“I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you.” (Luke 10.19 NASB)
