History—biblical and beyond—repeatedly shows something counterintuitive: being underestimated can spark innovation and express extraordinary faith.
Think of David vs. Goliath. To the world, David was laughably outmatched.
But David wasn’t stepping onto that field alone. He was in covenant with the living God. The stone he slung didn’t fly only with human skill. It rode on the energy of his personal relationship with God.
His private victories with lions and bears, won in reliance on that covenant, prepared him for the giant everyone else feared.
Why being the underdog can serve you:
Creativity under limitation. Constraint forces innovation.
Character in private. Hidden battles prepare you for public ones.
Covenant connection. Your relationship with God infuses ordinary actions with extraordinary power.

Don’t lament being underestimated. Lean into it. Every time you’re counted out is an opportunity for your covenant relationship with God to turn small stones into unstoppable force.

“He has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment of everything he will give us” (2 Corinthians 1.22 NLT).
Our experience with the Holy Spirit as a Christ-follower is the pledge of our future experience in the New Heavens & New Earth. We can be “partakers of the Holy Spirit” and “taste the good word of God and the powers of the age to come”—see Hebrews 6.4-5.
Let’s pray and affirm … "Father and Jesus … thank you for sending the Holy Spirit to live within us. We receive your earnest, your guarantee of everything that you will give us Now, during the Millennium, and in the New Heavens & New Earth. Help us to sample the powers of the Age to Come in our NOW. Amen.”
