Clear Eyes: How You See Shapes Everything

After eating hot dogs 🌭 and fries and pontificating (some may say bloviating) at a place called Hot Dog Heaven (it’s real)… a good friend and I were texting about a new worldview study.

Only half of Americans believe God is the all-powerful, all-knowing Creator who still rules the universe. Nine in ten hold a blended, syncretistic worldview instead of a biblical one — this in a nation where 70% still call themselves Christian.

Something's not adding up.

“Worldview” comes from the German weltanschauung: a comprehensive conception of the universe and our place in it. It's the lens we see through.

To the one perceiving, perception often feels like reality. What we see becomes what we believe is true.

But an authentic Christian worldview isn't first a set of ideas. It's a Christ Worldview. A Jesus Worldview.

He's the Founder of Christianity, and knowing Him is not merely scholastic… it's an encounter, a relationship with a Person. You can hold sound doctrine and still miss Him.

Jesus said if your eye is clear, your whole body is full of light (Matthew 6:22-23, NKJV). Your “eye” is how you see everything from the inside.

Clear seeing starts with who you're looking at, not just what you know about Him. Not just books. Not even just the Bible, though that’s key.

A clouded eye distorts everything downstream. How you see people, purpose, even yourself. A clear eye releases high-def living in the life of God.

Reality does not bend. Philosopher J. Budziszewski said your worldview has to have the same shape as reality.

Jesus, be the shape of my worldview. I want to know you, not just know about you. And, Holy Spirit, illuminate the Word of God to me.

Higher thoughts

Front-loaded gratitude: Faith doesn't wait to say thanks. Jesus said to believe you receive when you pray, and you will have it (Mark 11:24). Belief-receiving-gratitude comes before the granting.

I can afford that: Offenses are ‘fiery darts’ meant to distract, discourage, and pull you off assignment. Give it to the Lord — vengeance is his lane, not yours (Romans 12:19). To forgive is to give… and you can afford it.

In front: Get in front of things. Over-the-horizon prayer and planning. Readiness is positional power.

The Last Museum

Interesting. The Last Museum is the largest search engine for museum art. Around 5 million artworks. It uses semantic search, allowing you to search for artworks by theme, style, subject, vibes, or any description you can imagine.

Appreciate you.
