Stressors or Glimmers? Choosing What Shapes Your Everyday.
Life is full of STRESSORS. Triggers that activate our survival system: deadlines, financial pressure, conflict, even our own looping thoughts.
Stressors push us into fight, flight, or freeze.
But there are also GLIMMERS. Small, often overlooked cues of truth, goodness, and the beauty of God’s nearness. A bird’s song. A child’s laughter. A moment of quiet. That first sip of morning coffee.
Glimmers gently settle our nervous system, reminding us that we’re held and favored. They help us to be grounded and present.
Scripture tells us, “The whole earth is full of His glory” (Isaiah 6.3). What if glimmers are everyday sparks of that glory … God’s fingerprints breaking into ordinary moments?
Instead of feverishly reacting to stressors, we can train ourselves to notice glimmers. The more you give them attention, the more you’ll see.
They point us back to the Source of good, truth, and beauty.
👀 This week: When a stressor shows up, deliberately look for a glimmer. Reset. You’ll benefit by training what you give your attention to.
SEPT 14 – SEPT 20, 2025 — I turn from the stress of what is fallen and lift my eyes to the glory of God in the everyday. Holy Spirit, steady my focus. Guide my thoughts and emotions so they align with what delights you, the Father, and the Son. Amen.
