The smartest man to ever walk the planet

Anyone for some bumper sticker theology?

Jesus didn’t just teach—He demonstrated mastery over everything we encounter. Matter. Weather. The human body. Ethics. Morality. All of it. He wasn’t just a wise teacher, but the supreme authority over all creation.

Ever considered Jesus as the most brilliant person to ever walk the earth? His unparalleled insight, knowledge, and power invite us into something much deeper than just belief.

What could this mean for your life now? Could living in alignment with the smartest man who ever lived change how you see the world? And how you live in it?

Here’s Dallas Willard in The Divine Conspiracy —

“All these things show Jesus’ cognitive and practical mastery of every phase of reality: physical, moral and spiritual … Saying Jesus is Lord can mean little in practice for anyone who has to hesitate in saying Jesus is smart … he is not just nice, he is brilliant, he is the smartest man who has ever lived.

“He is now supervising the entire course of human history while simultaneously preparing the rest of the universe for our future role in it. He always has the best information on everything and certainly on the things that matter most in the human life.”

From Brian—Try this short prayer for 7 days. You can build it out and expand it. ➡️ “Jesus, I believe and say that ‘You are Lord.’ I also say, ‘Your are brilliant.’ I progressivley receive your brilliance for all of life right now. Thank you.”

P.S. — ❗️As Dallas Willard says, if we’re going to do bumper sticker theology, we should afix “Jesus is Brilliant” right next to “Jesus is Lord.”

The NOW is yours. The present and the future—everything—belongs to you. And you belong to Christ and Christ belongs to God. See 1 Corinthians 3.21-23. Don’t shove it all off into the “sweet by and by.” See what Paul wrote … both the present and the future are yours.

Get weird. There is great standout power in being weird. Jesus and his ways are the ultimate going rogue in a copy-and-paste world. Really following Jesus is a Giant Zag in all the Zig around you. It’s being an outsider in an insider world. It’s where the future’s at.

What’s your business? Am I in the business of Brian Del Turco? Who are you working for? Is it your ministry, organization, brand, career, or business that drives you—or are you laser-focused on the Father and His Kingdom agenda via these things? It’s always a good time for a core check.

What they say …

Bruce — “The Smart Edit is jam-packed with great information yet a quick and easy read. There’s depth, but it doesn’t take a ton of effort to get to the good stuff. Highly recommended!”

STELLAR QUOTE
Be as Jesus was … then do as he did

The Smart Edit newsletter

Jesus does not call us to do what he did, but to be as he was, permeated with love. Then the doing of what he did and said becomes the natural expression of who we are in him.

Dallis Willard

WORD WEALTH 🪙
Evil — meaning includes poor in quality

In the OT Hebrew, ra` (rah) means something bad, evil, trouble, wickedness, something of poor quality. David wrote, “For you are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness, nor shall evil (ra`) dwell with you” (Psalm 5.4). Malnurished cows are described as “evil” in appearance in Genesis 41.27. We are to exhibit the excellencies of God in our lives and work.

Heavenly Father, I don’t want to take your name in vain to myself in any way—I don’t want to misrepresent you. Magnify your name (reputation in the earth) in and through me. Amen.

The Word of the Week is hearkin (härkən), Old English, 16th century—”pay attention, listen, give heed.” The Jewish Shema prayer is, “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one!" (Deuteronomy 6.4 NKJV). The first word, “shema”, means “pay attention to, respond to what you hear.” Source: WordDaily
