Hate is doing something to you
Science is confirming what Scripture declared long ago. Hatred degenerates things. Including your body.
In Genesis 4, just steps outside the Garden, anger surfaces for the first time in biblical history. Cain's offering is rejected. His countenance falls.
God warns him directly: "Sin is crouching at the door."
He doesn't listen. Anger hardens into hatred. Hatred moves to murder. The pattern was set early. Many destructive things flow from unchecked anger.
Want to switch off your brain's empathy circuitry? Give in to hatred. People who harbor hatred become less empathetic not just toward the object of their hate, but toward everyone. Hate spreads inward and outward simultaneously.
Over time, diminishing empathy collapses into numbness. Then something darker emerges … a person begins to feel nothing about another's suffering. Or worse, feels good about it.
The body pays a price too.
Hate-driven anger triggers a sustained release of stress hormones that suppress immune function, increase inflammation, and impair the body's ability to fight infection and even cancer. Blood vessels lose their ability to relax properly, elevating stroke and cardiovascular risk.
One major analysis found that anger and hostility increase coronary heart disease risk by nearly 20 percent in otherwise healthy people.
Hatred exhausts you now. And it can cost you a place in the New Heavens and New Earth on the horizon. See Galatians 5:19-21 and 1 John 3:15 (John equates hatred and murder. Jesus did this too in his Sermon on the Mount.).
BUT THERE IS A CURE. Not coping. Not anger management.
Regeneration. The born-again experience in Jesus Christ does what no therapy, discipline, or self-improvement approach can fully accomplish. It changes the nature.
The residing Holy Spirit begins to pour the love of God into our hearts. Paul: "The love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us." (Romans 5:5, NKJV).
You cannot conjure up the GOD-KIND-OF-LOVE. You receive it. And what gets poured in eventually crowds out what hatred tried to build in your life.
The Kingdom of God runs on love. And love, it turns out, is good for your total being.

Align your heart with God to experience his complete will …
God: “I have found David … a man after My heart, who will do all my will (Acts 13.22).
Above all, God is first a God of the heart. He values inner alignment, and then real-world fruitful action flows.
Your belief set point: “I will ‘stand perfect and fully assured in ALL THE WILL OF GOD’” (Col. 4.12). When our heart moves with Him, our will follows. Clarity surfaces and obedience strengthens.
“For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth, that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His” (2 Chr. 16:9).
