DC Grotesque
Just last Friday, Penny and I, along with two of our daughters, visited the National Cathedral in Washington, DC. Naturally, I decided to join the gargoyle gang at the cathedral. They are said to guard buildings and churches from evil or harmful spirits. Sierra, our family art and architecture guru, let me know that non-water-spouting gargoyles are actually called grotesques. Nice. Oddly apropos, no?
KINGDOM DYNAMIC
A Godly ferocity
Have you lost your fierceness? If so … it’s costing you.
Our full-on engagement is required to experience our destiny in Christ.
The authority is from above, but a fierce mastery must flow through us.
“God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule'” (Genesis 1.28 NIV).
Rule. John Eldredge says we need to execute fierce mastery …
“Hebrew scholar Robert Alter has looked long and hard at this passage (Genesis 1:26-28), mining it for its riches. He says the idea of rule means ‘a fierce exercise of mastery.’ It is active, engaged, passionate. It is fierce.” (Waking the Dead)
There’s no way around this — his dominion flows through us.
Invest time meditating and praying over Genesis 1:26-28. Psalm 8 too.
We are blessed (empowered) by the Creator. But we have to understand that our internal state has to be fierce.
A Godly ferocity.
Q4U: What space in your life or work needs this the most?

ALL THINGS NEW
Higher thoughts
🧲 Magnetic: As Kingdom Agents, excel in defining problems, pain, and aspirations. Attract people to Jesus by offering solutions, healing, horizons.
🔌 Connections: Ask the Holy Spirit to align you relationally. The best Kingdom Currency runs on the best Kingdom Connections for you.
🍇 Chosen: God chose you. Then you surrendered to that choice. Go and bear fruit for his story and glory.
WORD WEALTH
Helper, advocate, counselor
"Parakletos" in New Testament Greek means "called to one’s side," signifying a helper, advocate, or counselor. In nonbiblical literature, it refers to an attorney advocating in court on someone else's behalf. Jesus says to us, the Parakletos is the Holy Spirit: "When the Advocate (Gk., Parakletos) comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me" (John 15:26 NIV).
Let’s pray and affirm … "Jesus, thank you for sending us the Spirit of Truth, our helper, advocate, and counselor. We receive you Holy Spirit. We will live and move in tandem with you.”
STELLAR QUOTE
Shock the world
Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a German Lutheran pastor, theologian and anti-Nazi dissident.
Christians should give more offense, shock the world far more, than they are doing now.
